When United Way’s Women’s Leadership Society said “Let’s Do Lunch,” more than 300 women from across the St. Louis Region accepted. Kolbeco Co-Founder and Women’s Leadership Society member, Lauren Kolbe, served as a host for one of the 50 lunches that took place on June 12, 2014 at restaurants from Illinois to St. Charles County.
United Way Women’s Leadership Society “Let’s Do Lunch” at Prasino, Streets of St. Charles
The first annual “Let’s Do Lunch” event was designed to provide women an opportunity to network in intimate groups of 6-8, allowing them to get to know each other better and to better acquaint themselves with United Way. Kolbe, who also serves as a United Way Tri-County Board Member and Campaign Cabinet Member, was invited to be among the 50 Women’s Leadership Society members to host a group of female professionals, and chose Prasino at Streets of St. Charles as the group’s lunch venue.
“I got my introduction to United Way through the Women’s Leadership Society, and my passion and support for the organization has blossomed from there,” said Kolbe. “There’s nothing like the energy you feel when you’re with a group of like-minded women who are just as excited to support United Way as they are to help other women in the Society in any way they can. It was my pleasure to have the opportunity to introduce a new group of women to United Way’s Women’s Leadership Society, and share stories of personal, professional and community impact we achieve together.”
According to United Way, the Women’s Leadership Society was founded in 1996 by St. Louis Business Journal Publisher Ellen Sherberg as an avenue for women’s giving. Today the Society has more than 3,600 members who contribute over $7 million to the annual United Way campaign.
